BTS!!

BTS is a KPOP idol group who recorded the 1st rank in the Billboard 200 chart in the year of 2018 and got into different rankings with their songs.
Their concerts were always sold out by thousands and thousands of people.
They are the ones who currently made Korea more known by foreigners and also activated tourism in Korea.
Before them, whenever Koreans go to a foreign country, they would ask if you are from South or North Korea.
But because of BTS the very first question others would ask is
"Do you know BTS?"
There are so much things to be impressed by them but there are 2 things I want to talk about.
First is their fashion.
The members, especially Jeongguk/Jungkook.
Wherever he goes, he wears the modernized and simplified version of Hanbok, the Korean traditional clothing. He wore this at the airport, during shootings, while exercising, and maybe whenever he wants to.
People even call this clothes as BangTan Hanbok.

It is so nice seeing these world widely known people wearing their own country's traditional clothing. Because this will allow the fans to be interested in what clothing they are wearing, they will search, and will know about Korea's traditional clothing.
This is just so impressive.

Another thing that I am impressed is their Music Video.
Korea's music videos are really well made like a scene of a movie.
One of BTS' music video, IDOL, is what I want to focus on.
It reached millions of views in 24 hours, which is really fast paced. And as of January 8, 2020, there are 597,901,830 views!
What I like about this music video is their lyrics, and most importantly, the visuals they added in this video.
They included the different elements that symbolizes Korea.
First obvious imagery shown is the Korean traditional architecture.

The unique pattern on the roof is called GiWa.
GiWa is used in a lot of traditional houses and Palaces of Korea.
You can still see this today in Korea such as, BukCheon HanOk village, GyeongBuk Palace, and other palaces.

Also when you see the clothing BTS members are wearing inside that architecture is the Korean Traditional Clothing, HanBok. It is modernized and styled much more than the traditional style, yet we still recognize it as HanBok.

They also incorporated this scene which I guess is based from a Korean Traditional Tale.
Also another important thing we have to note in this video is the sound they are making "Ul SSU," and "JotTa!"
These sounds are Korean Traditional sounds that has been used since the olden days.
It may be translated or give a feel of "Oh Yes!" in English.
If you look at their music video, 2 minutes and 37 second, you will be able to see them jumping in a different way. Their choreography may be based on the Korean Traditional
Dance.
I am so thankful that BTS is trying their best to share Korea's culture and tradition around the world.
I hope everyone will get to know how amazing Korea is and our culture is!
