Philippine's Night Market-Mercato

이미지
Hello I am Hanboknam!  I have talked about the Korean Local Market on my previous post.  Today I want to talk about a night market of the Philippines.  Mercato Centrale's Midnight Mercato at BGC!  This night market is located at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) which is one of the business districts in the Philippines.  Mercato Centrale's Midnight market opens Wednesday to Saturday at 6PM-3AM. Until 3AM!! Surprising right? It is truly a night market!  The night market was not that messy and was well organized.  The food were not too expensive so what I did was to give myself a limit of 200 pesos which is about 4 dollars.  What I bought were different kinds of skewers because when I entered the market, I smelled the meat grilling on charcoal!  These were the skewers I selected.  Chicken Intestines, Pork Barbeque, and Pig ears.  I bought these so that I can bully my employees, but actually, it was really yummy!  It was savory, chewy, and was great

There are 2 New Year's day in Korea and 2 Different Age!

Hello everyone! Hanboknam is back! Do you know what is so special about this coming January 25, 2020? It's our New Year's day. Yes, some of you may be confused on what I am talking about! You might think why there are 2 New Year's day? Korea follows the Regular calendar as well as the Lunar calendar. January 1st in the Regular calendar is what we all know, and for this year, in the Lunar calendar date, the first day of the year is on January 25th! Interesting right? Also a lot of people get confused on Korean age and International age, because in Korea we count our age differently. Internationally, people get older on the day of their birthdays. But in Korea, we get older on the first day of the year. So whenever others ask Koreans on how old we are, we ask them back "Do you want to know my Korean Age or my International Age?" Fuuny isn't it? What we do during the New year's day is the same as the first day of the regular calendar day.

SamGyupSal (삼겹살) I have never seen people who did not like this food, SamGyupSal. SamGyupSal by itself is a 3 layered pork meat. We usually cook this by grilling on charcoal with garlic and onion. My foreign friends even wondered why their country never thought to do this!  It is juicy and savory, not too oily, but just right. Koreans eat this with lettuce and we call this Ssam. We grab a lettuce, put a bit of rice, a piece of meat, put a bit of Korean sauce called Ssam Jang, fold the lettuce and put the whole thing in your mouth! You shouldn't bite it in half because its goi

Good day everyone! Hanboknam is back! Today I want to tell you about one of the most influential people TIMES recorded last 2019, which everyone may already know. BTS!! Credits: Hypebeast BTS is a KPOP idol group who recorded the 1st rank in the Billboard 200 chart in the year of 2018 and got into different rankings with their songs. Their concerts were always sold out by thousands and thousands of people. They are the ones who currently made Korea more known by foreigners and also activated tourism in Korea.  Before them, whenever Koreans go to a foreign country, they would ask if you are from South or North Korea.  But because of BTS the very first question others would ask is  "Do you know BTS?" There are so much things to be impressed by them but there are 2 things I want to talk about. First is their fashion. The members, especially Jeongguk/Jungkook. Wherever he goes, he wears the modernized and simplified version of Hanbok, the

It has been mentions a lot from our blog, and even has details about it on our first blog! But let me say more about it. GyeongBuk Palace is located in the middle of Seoul and it is built proportionally based on geometrical order/pattern. It is so beautiful and I personally cannot believe that these architectures were made in the year of 1395. But this was burnt once because of the war between Korea and Japan in the year of 1592 but was rebuilt 1867.
